Towering talents! Hundreds turn out for hit show
ALL-singing, all-dancing youngsters stunned audiences with their skill at a talent show designed to show “the other side” of Islington youths on Saturday.
More than 100 people auditioned, but only 16 acts made the final performance, which took place in front of a packed audience of more than 900 people at the Rock Tower in Tufnell Park Road at the weekend.
The four judges, led by Roland Gift, lead singer of the 1980s band Fine Young Cannibals, chose Grace Holewell-Fleary, 16, as the winner of the youth category (5-17 age group), while Boy G Firm won the adult category (18 and over). Boy G Firm is an R&B collaboration between two friends, Kyle Harrison and Marius Malone.
The competition developed out of the overwhelming interest in the Tufnell Park Estate talent show that was run during the summer.
The organisers received funding from Homes For Islington but they are hoping for more sponsorship next year so that they can make the event even bigger |
