Highbury Corner plan
TRANSPORT chiefs are expected to confirm today (Friday) that plans to close off the western lane of Highbury Corner roundabout to cars are back on the table.
More than half of the respondents to the council’s consultation favoured closing the western lane – which passes McDonald’s and Wetherspoons – to all traffic except buses, taxis and cycles. This will open access to the green space at the centre of the roundabout. Although funding has not yet been found, TfL are expected to confirm that they will be going ahead with further detailed designs for the area, and will help Islington Council find funding for the project.
