Crash biker over limit
A SPEEDING motorcyclist was two-and-a-half times over the drink-drive limit when his bike hit a kerb, sending him flying into a bus shelter, an inquest has heard.
Australian maintenance manager Andrew Johnson, 27, was travelling at about 60mph in a 30mph zone when he crashed in Stroud Green.
He suffered such “severe and extensive” head injuries in the May 1 crash at the corner of Crouch Hill and Heathville Road that a coroner ruled it was likely he died on impact.
A nurse living nearby told the St Pancras inquest the sound that awoke her was so loud she thought it was a bomb exploding.
Louise Emma Lloyd said she saw Mr Johnson lying in the street. Her professional judgement told her he was dead.
Coroner Dr Andrew Reid ruled that Mr Johnson died as a result of an accident “to which excessive speed and consumption of alcohol contributed”.
