Help Gaza children
• THE children of Gaza need basic food supplements and medicine.
There has been an ongoing blockade of the Gaza strip, which has caused severe problems for the people of Gaza, especially for the most vulnerable. Food, fuel, basic goods and even vital medicines are in short supply.
Islington Friends of Yibna, a campaigning group, has been organising regular events to raise awareness and fundraise for life-changing projects in Yibna (Gaza strip).
Working with Medical Aid for Palestinians, our group has focused on areas where we can help the most, such as providing basic life-saving medication to clinics in Yibna.
This is one of our ongoing projects, as the shortage of goods entering Gaza has caused an increase in malnutrition and preventable diseases, especially in children. It is well known that in situations where sanctions or a siege create these shortages, the life expectancy, especially of children, is dramatically shortened. The medications and supplements we are sending are saving lives.
A similar project aims to raise enough funds to build a safe children’s playground in Yibna within the next few months. The last playground was destroyed in the recent conflicts with the Israeli army.
Without a way of distracting themselves from the difficulties of daily life, these children become even more prone to illnesses such as chronic anxiety and depression.
If you would like to become involved or would like to make a donation, please contact Islington Friends of Yibna, PO Box 58246 N1 2UE or email Islington_Yibna@yahoo.co.uk.
