Your Shout - Blue is best as Gunners are goners

Published: 22 September, 2011

THIS was a real six-pointer that could have massive resonance at the end of the season.

There was plenty of the drama, farce and entertainment that makes the Premier League the envy of the world. But that’s enough of Arsenal’s comical collapse against fellow relegation certainties Blackburn.

Let’s talk about Chelsea’s six-pointer against the Mankers (does anyone still remember when Richard Osley used to do switcheroos way back in the previous decade when Arsenal and their supporters seemed to believe that football had something to do with winning competitions?)

Chelsea are once again going to be left alone this season to battle the northern hordes and, despite losing, they continue to represent all that is best about football.

The rags to riches tale every supporter dreams of is a daily reality for the mighty Blues.

I remember watching Middlesbrough get promoted as we got relegated 25 years ago with the same adrenaline-induced clarity that I saw us winning the Double for the first time in such spectacular style only last year.

So take heart all you Gonners!

I don’t believe you can call yourself a true fan until you have experienced the gut-wrenching nausea that comes with realising you will have to play Millwall in the league next season.

And in that huge, great newish stadium too. Perhaps that first trophy will be the Championship title.
