Rugby: London 2 NE League - Hampstead 27, Enfield 13

Published: 22 September, 2011

HAMPSTEAD made it two out of two in the league with victory over Enfield Ignations on Saturday after last weekend’s 27-16 win over Beccles.

The reliable boot of Tom Cracknell saw Hamps head into the break with a slender 6-3 lead and Phill Carr intercepted a pass to outrun the Ignations’ back line to bag Hampstead’s first try after the restart.

Hampstead’s pack, driven on by man of the match No 8 Dave Corridan, gained the ascendancy as the game rumbled on and skipper Pete Evans soon powered over the line with Cracknell converting from out wide.

Tristan Morgan added a third which Cracknell converted before Ignations grabbed a consolation try and a penalty to prevent a rout.

Hampstead sit third in the table and entertain Old Streetonians on Saturday on Hampstead Heath.
