Football: Camden & Regent’s Park Youth League Recap

MORE than 40 matches featured in a crowded programme at Regent’s Park on Saturday as teams from one of London’s biggest youth leagues went head-to-head Among the debutants, FC Sapo Verde  enjoyed a double delight when the Under-11s overcame Twyford 3-0 while the Under-13s saw off London Tigers 4-2.

Jamie Lloyd-Williams scored the opener for the Under-11s after pouncing on a George Karageorgis penalty kick that rebounded off the post.

Archie Willett-Claridge hit Sapo’s second and central midfielder Matteo Sollecito topped a man-of-the-match performance with a strong strike for 3-0.

Joe Noden sealed a fine win for the Under-13s after Peter Brooks, Brandon Oliphant and Truman Ennals had put Sapho ahead against Tigers.

Francis Amartey hit a brace as Hampstead  earned a point in a battling 2-2 draw with Islington Red.

Hampstead were pegged back twice as Petrit Krasniqi levelled in the first half and again at the death to earn a point for Islington.

Theo Dixon scored a decisive goal as Islington White  beat Islington Admiral United 4-2.

Josh Lord and Olly Francis pulled Admiral back into the match after Kyri Georgiou (2) and Rory Carlson had put Whites into a commanding 3-0 lead.

But Dixon ended the Admiral fightback when he hit White’s fourth.
