SPURS skipper Michael Dawson has told fans signing ex-Gunner Emmanuel Adebayor will bring a potent mix of power and ability to the forward line.

In his online blog Dawson said the season-long loan deal for the Manchester City player was a massive boost to the Lane squad.

Reflecting on past encounters with the striker, Dawson said: “He’s a great addition to the squad. I’ve played against him on many occasions and he’s scored a few goals against us. He’s a big, strong, guy. He can hold the ball up, head it and has great technique. It’s a chance for him to show everyone what he can do.”

Meanwhile Harry Redknapp spoke of his disappointment at the 5-1 home drubbing by Man City on Sunday. The Spurs boss said he felt the scoreline didn’t reflect the balance of play. He said: “For 35 minutes there was nothing in the game. We started brightly and had some good opportunities. There were chances galore out there but we couldn’t convert one. But, then, we didn’t defend well enough as a unit.”

Rafael van der Vaart, who limped off after all three subs had been used with 25 minutes to go, has tweaked a hamstring, while both Aaron Lennon and Niko Kranjcar suffered groin injuries.
