HAMPSTEAD made it five wins out of five in the London Two North-East rugby league on Saturday with a narrow 14-12 points victory away at Canvey Island.
A superb piece of skill from Pete Evans gave the visitors the lead.
The Hampstead captain made the most of a poor pass from Ceri Thomas when he kicked the ball up from his feet into his hands without breaking stride and ran in under the posts. Tom Cracknell converted.
The unstoppable Evans sliced through the Canvey defence again to score his second try of the game. Cracknell again added the extras as Hampstead held out for a nail-biting win.
