PLAYERS from Regent’s Park Estate Football Club wrapped up a dream debut in the Islington Midweek League by completing a deserved double at Market Road.
In their first campaign together, the triumphant team were crowned Division Two champions and won the prestigious Jack Walker Shield.
In a thrilling three days they beat Division One side Origin 3-2 on penalties to lift the shield, before beating First Capital Connect 7-0 to take the title.
Proud manager Des Casey said: “It is an outstanding achievement for the team to be double champions in their first year. We hope to continue to grow as a team and to mount a serious challenge for the first division title next year.
“Winning the double is the prefect reward for all the hard work and effort the whole team have put in this season.”
The season is far from finished, however, as Regent’s Park turn their attentions to winning their final two league games to complete an unbeaten campaign.
