LORD Southampton will kick-off their campaign next season with a cup final against treble winners Phoenix in the Camden Sunday League.

The league newcomers twice came from a goal down to beat Kentish Town-based rivals Athletico Annies 5-3 at the weekend in the semi-final of the President’s Cup.

First the South drew level when Elvyn Blackwood marked his return from suspension with a neat finish, before John McNamara equalised for a second time from close range.

Skipper Tom Looney gave Lord Southampton the lead from the penalty spot, but this time it was Annies’ turn to hit back to force extra-time. Substitute Stevie Nicolaou restored the South’s lead before John Purcell put the result beyond doubt with a well-placed header.

Manager Justing Morahan said: “It was a great win for the boys today. Now bring on Phoenix.”

Rivals Phoenix booked their place in the final with a 4-2 win over Crouch End Rangers.
