A TEAM of talented young footballers proved that they are ‘A’ Class above their rivals on Friday when they were crowned champions in the Camden and Islington Youth League at Market Road.
The unbeaten ‘A’ Class FC under-12s side won the title in style with a resounding 8-0 victory over Westway.
Zak Miles, Ollie Francis and Harry Dean all scored two goals each, while Reshawn Newland and Malachi Napa were also on target.
The Islington-based side are now within touching distance of completing a tremendous treble having already won the Waltham Forest Sunday Youth League. They will be looking to complete their impressive trophy haul when the take on Crown and Manor in the Camden and Islington Youth League Cup final at the end of May.
Delighted manager Chris Mozo said: “I’m so impressed with the level of football the boys have played this season.”
In the Under-12s ‘B’ Division, Islington Admiral Youth put in a fine team performance to beat rivals Lyndhurst. Jack Price opened the scoring with a neat finish, giving Admiral a lead that they only managed to hold on to thanks to some great saves from their goalkeeper George Isaac. Admiral went on to win 4-1 with second-half goals from Josh Lord, Alfie Dundon and Jahvon Wainwright.
In the Under 9s ‘A’ Division, St Pancras kept their title hopes alive with a 1-0 victory over Angel Islington. The Saints enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and twice almost took the lead courtesy of efforts from Taylor Peck and Diogo Freitas-Gouveia.
What proved to be the winning goal came mid-way through the first half when a looping cross from Dorian Krasniki was headed towards goal by Ardi Canolli before being turned into the net by an unlucky Angel defender.
In the Under-10s ‘A’ Division, champions Isledon Wolves ended their campaign unbeaten after twins Deon and Nicky Marshall both scored in a 2-0 win over ‘A’ Class.
