FIVE players failed to get on the scoresheet as Highgate suffered a three-wicket defeat at home in their opener of the season. 

Hammed Hassan top-scored for Highgate as he smashed four fours and four sixes in a knock of 54 off 62 balls. 

The opening signs looked good for the home side with James Warburton and Nasirul Alam adding, respectively, 36 and  32 runs.  But with the middle and tail order failing to add an single run Highgate were dismissed for 165 on 39 overs. 

Southgate reached their target – just – as they hit 167-7 off 50.2 overs to take all 10 points.
