Players from Hampstead Ladies Rugby Club received a timely boost ahead of their final run-in when ex-England captain Sue Day turned up to take charge of a special training session
DAY, who has played in three World Cups and is England’s top try scorer with 61 tries in 59 caps, put the players through their paces ahead of their rescheduled title-decider against Woodbridge.
On Sunday, Hampstead were held to a 5-5 draw away at Hammersmith and Fulham in Division One of the South-East Regional National Challenge League. Playing on what can only be described as a mud pit, both sides matched each other with strong defensive efforts and great attacking runs. Lydia Hartridge scored Hampstead’s only points of the game after good work from Anita Oliver. The result leaves the team second in the league with a game in hand over leaders Woodbridge.
