SCORES of girls gathered at Regent’s Park on Saturday for the chance to have a kick around with their Arsenal Ladies heroines.

Wales captain Jayne Ludlow, Republic of Ireland captain Ciara Grant and fellow Irish international Emma Byrne were among the Gunners’ stars who turned up to put youngsters through their paces in a free football festival.

Arsenal teamed-up with the London FA, the Middlesex FA, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and The London Playing Fields Foundation to give excited seven to 11-year-olds the chance to learn new skills.

All the girls taking part received a special goodie bag, which included a free ticket to Arsenal Ladies first FA Women’s Super League game against Bristol Academy on Thursday, April 21.

Among the young players to show off their skills on Saturday were Hampstead Under-11s stars Alexis Taylor, Star Charles, Gabriella Schmit-Castilla and Chloe Kimberlin.

The club wants to get more girls playing the beautiful game, and is holding a series of trials over the summer.
