PLAYERS from Regent’s Park Estate Football Club suffered a rare defeat on Monday when they lost in the quarter-finals of the Ken Doherty Memorial Cup.
The Division One side had caught Premier Division opponents AWDF by surprise at Market Road when they raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from James Cole and Alfie Rogers.
But the Camden-based side couldn’t hold on to their lead and slipped to a 3-2 defeat, ending their hopes of winning the quadruple in their first season in the Islington Midweek League.
On the plus side, Regent’s Park Estate are through to the quarter-finals of the Invitation Cup after beating IDS 3-1 thanks to goals from Ricky Lucas, Cole and Rogers.
