GLORIOUS goals, spectacular saves and many nervous parents biting their nails replaced the more familiar tranquil scenery at Regent’s Park on Saturday.
Scores of top teams turned their attentions to the prestigious Challenge Cup as organisers from the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League continued to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
Totally Goal FC captured one of the two under-10s trophies on offer after beating Pro Potential 1-0 in the final thanks to a composed finish from Nahiem Williams, who coolly rounded the keeper to score the winner.
Goalkeeper Will Harley was named the Player-of-the-Tournament after guiding his team to glory without conceding a single goal in the entire competition.
Soccerscool were also crowned under-10s winners after beating South Hampstead FC in their final. Striker Finlay MacNab won’t forget the final after scoring twice, while a penalty from Joe Bolger wrapped up an impressive 3-0 victory.
South Hampstead shot-stopper Ben Hyman was voted Player-of-the-Tournament after making a string of superb saves.
The victory continues a great season for Soccerscool, who have also won the under-10s ‘A’ Division of the Regent’s Park League. They will be looking to complete a fantastic treble next month when they also look to capture the under-10s ‘B’ Division title in the Camden and Islington Youth League.
Both Totally Goal FC and Soccerscool joined the celebrations started by Hampstead Stags, who were crowned the first under-10s cup winners last Saturday.
Regent’s Park were also big winners this Saturday as they beat the Academy 1-0 in the final of the Under-13s Challenge Cup.
Tayo Bradshaw scored the winner from the penalty spot, while captain Dexter Bohn was named as the Player-of-the-Tournament after leading his team to victory.
