Boxing: Rico Mullings, Aarron Morgan, Ryan Turner, Albes Krasniqi, Stephanie Louis-Fernand and Patrick Ward from Islington Boxing Club all win gold medals

A TEAM of fighters from a top amateur boxing club in Archway proved they had the golden gloves by dominating a top competition in Denmark. 

The super six from Islington Boxing Club in Hazellville Road celebrated a historic haul in the Hvidovre International Box Cup as they all scooped glorious gold medals. 

Captain Aarron Morgan led his team by example as he won the senior under-75kg middleweight crown with a 9-5 points victory over Michalis Michailidis from Cyprus Boxing club in the final. Morgan put in a magnificent display to win the title, and was rewarded for his efforts when he was presented with the Best Boxer of the Tournament Award. 

Fellow middleweight Albes Krasniqi continued the gold rush when he beat Furkan Kilic from local Danish club Kodovre ABC to win the junior under-75kg title. 

Islington also enjoyed double success in the welterweight division.

Enrico Mullings made light work of South Africa’s Lasse Kryger to win the junior under-69kg title while Stephanie Louis-Fernand beat Anna Elmose from Denmark 7-5 in the final of the women’s under-69kg category. 

Patrick Ward produced a classy display to defeat Richard Sheppard from South Africa in the junior under-15s 44kg final, before light-heavyweight Ryan Turner wrapped up a magnificent tournament for Islington by beating South Africa’s Johnathon Viljoen in the under-19s 81kg final.
