Sport: Letter to the editor - Why so puerile and parochial Mr Osley?

Published: 02 June 2011

IT was instructive to note the difference in the contributions of Richard Osley and Tony Dallas that grace your Crow feature

While Mr Dallas had the courtesy to “wish one and all a healthy, safe and stress-free summer”, Mr Osley (apart from his puerile insults) indulged in the usual parochial and self-centred interest that local residents have come to expect from Arsenal plc and its supporters.

I do not support either Arsenal or Tottenham but I do very much support the notion that Premier League clubs should play a major role in contributing to the welfare and livelihood of their local community.

I do not know about Tottenham, but I do know about Arsenal and I do believe that their actual contribution to the local community is trivial.

If Mr Osley aspires to do something useful, he could do worse than to investigate (impartially) the actual contribution that Premier League clubs make to their local communities…

And ignore the spin of footballs’ PR machines.
