THE pursuit of striker Leandro Damiao has been stepped-up a notch with reports in Brazilian newspapers suggesting the player will sign for Spurs by the end of the week.
An original bid of £10million was turned down by Internacional, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly improved the bid to £12million and added clauses linking the fee to his success.
Damiao scored 22 goals in 24 performances and made his Brazil debut in the game against Scotland at the Emirates in the summer.
Any move involving the 21-year-old would be made smoother by the fact that compatriots Sandro and Heurelho Gomes are already at the Lane.
Spurs have also been linked with Brazilian striker Carvalho Amauri from Juventus.
In other news, Danny Rose is enjoying his time with the England under-21s team at the European Championships in Denmark.
He said: “Training has been of a great standard. It was probably one of the best I’ve been involved in.
“It just keeps getting better and better and the team morale is great as well.”
Meanwhile, Spanish club Sevilla are considering a move for Mexican forward Giovani Dos Santos.
