A TEAM of top cricketers from Haverstock School are preparing to do battle for the borough after winning the right to represent Camden at the Central London Schools Finals.

The Year 8 side from the school in Chalk Farm qualified for Friday’s showdown in Crystal Palace after winning the Camden School Sports Federation Cricket Championships.

In a thrilling play-off final at Regent’s Park, Mohammed Goni helped led Haverstock to the narrowest of victories over rivals Hampstead as they won by just a single run.

Delighted coach Joe Allen (pictured) said; “It was a great performance from the team, especially considering the side is mainly Year 7 students representing an age group above them.

“They showed great determination to win the competition and were also victorious in their Year 7 competition. They have already exceeded my expectations and I am sure they will do Camden proud in the finals at Crystal palace.”
