A SOLID all round performance from Tom Smith saw Hampstead secure their fourth win of the season on Saturday in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League.
Starting with the ball, Smith helped finish off a struggling Twickenham side on their own patch as he claimed four wickets for 33 runs in a devastating 14.4 over spell. Zac Khan had earlier dismantled the top order as he took 5-69 off 18 overs, leaving the hosts all out for just 180 runs.
Smith was just as commanding with the bat as he top-scored for Hampstead with 56 off 114 balls, including five fours. Openers Robert Tidey and Brandon Buckley hit 33 and 30 runs respectively, and Matt Kabir Floyd hit 27. Their efforts saw Hampstead seal a three-wicket win with a score of 181-7 off 55.2 overs to claim all 10 points.
IN Division Two, Darren Eckford was the star of the show as North Middlesex eased to a home victory against Harrow Town.
He dismissed the visitors’ top six batsman as he ended with fantastic figures of 7-30, leaving Harrow Town on just 82 runs from their brief 28-over stint.
North Midd had declared on 269-3 off 50 overs after some solid scoring from Adam Holmes, Alex Hill and Evan Flowers. The openers took the score to 73 before Holmes was trapped LBW for 31. Flowers joined Hill in what proved a match-winning partnership of 118 for the second wicket before Hill departed with 74.
With Flowers going on to fall just eight runs short of his century it’s safe to say the two enjoyed batting against Harrow Town this season having scored 379 runs against them.
