HIGHGATE Harriers  trio Ben Pochee, Ben Noad and Lindsay Kehoe joined more than 4,000 runners on New Year’s Eve to take part in one of the biggest road races in Germany.

Held just outside Stuttgart, the Bietigheimer Silvesterlauf, which is run over seven miles, attracted more than 20,000 spectators, who created a carnival atmosphere.

Battling against below- freezing temperatures, Noad – not yet fully fit after his serious rib injury – put in a sterling effort to finish in eighth place.

Team-mate Pochee took on Olympian Dieter Baumann in the final stretch, but was eventually outpaced by the home favourite and finished 15th.

Kehoe also flew the Highgate flag and did fantastically well to finish 23rd out of a field of more than 700 female runners.
