Football: Camden & Islington Youth League Recap

PLAYERS from the Heath Football Club punched the air with extra gusto after netting their first win of the season in the Camden and Islington Youth League.
The young side (pictured), who play in the Under-9s ‘B’ Division, put in a magnificent team effort as they beat Regent’s Park 1-0 thanks to a strike from Liam Campbell.
Manager Pat Cleary said afterwards: “It was a tight game and our boys done brilliantly to get their first win. It was good performance.”
In the Under-9s ‘A’ Division on Friday Belsize Youth moved three points clear at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Futebol De Salao.
Nate Case opened the scoring early on before Zak Brandman made the game safe with a clinical finish. Manager Chace O’Neill said: “This team gets better with every game, I hope they can keep the momentum going.”
Sister club Primrose Hill remain unbeaten in the same age group after goals from Barnaby Lee and Eden Prime sealed a 2-1 victory over Islington Admiral Youth.
One of the biggest wins of the week came in the Under-10s ‘A’ Division as Isledon Wolves hit double figures against Crown and Manor. Nicky Marshall and Nathan Carlyle scored four each, while Jack Cheeseman hit the goal of the game with an outrageous chip from outside the box. Teon Levy-Wright wrapped up a 10-1 win, a result that leaves Wolves six-points clear at the top of the table.
In the same age group, Primrose Hill gave what manager James Hammond described as their “performance of the season” as they beat Westway 2-1 thanks to a deadly double strike from Max Bjarnason.
In the Under-12s ‘B’ Division Javain St Marie led Islington Admiral Youth to a thrilling 3-2 win over Somers Town. Captain Wilfie White bagged a brace, while Jack Price was also on target for Admiral.
In the Under-13s ‘A’ Division, a second-half strike from Vinnie Chohan proved enough to earn Lyndhurst the points in their match against Chapel Boys.
Isledon Wolves are three points clear at the top of the Under-13s ‘B’ Division after storming to a 4-0 win over Regent’s Park.
Liam Bristow grabbed a brace, while Alfie Costello and Tommy Smith completed the scoring.
In the Under-12s Harrow Youth League Cup at the weekend, Isledon Wolves came from a goal down to beat rivals Hampstead 4-2 to book a place in the semi-finals.
Bassam Menhal struck twice to turn the game around for Wolves, before Mark Ikua and a first of the season from Luke Heldt capped off a magnificent team performance.
Angel Islington are also closing in on a trophy after beating Ryan United 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the Under-10s Cheshunt League Cup.
Angel showed fantastic team spirit to come back not once, but twice thanks to a brace from Ronnie Benstead and a last-gasp penalty from Oliver Ellacot.
