PHOENIX took their first step towards completing the treble in the Camden Sunday League when they were crowned Division One champions at Hackney Marshes, writes Steve Barnett.

The all-conquering side retained the title in style as they beat Mostyn FC 3-0 to make it 11 straight league victories, leaving them just one game away from the perfect campaign.

Skipper Michael Pattrick opened the scoring when he audaciously chipped the keeper, before leading scorer Anthony Clarke stepped up with another two goals to take his personal tally to 40 this season. Manager Dave Harber said: “To win the league for the second year running is unbelievable, I’m so proud of all the lads. To have these kind of players around you makes me happy to get up so early on a Sunday morning to prepare for games.”

Phoenix will be looking to complete stage two of a tremendous treble on Sunday when they take on Athletico Annies in the Senior Cup final at Cockfosters Stadium.
