Heathsider sets new javelin mark at South of England Track and Field Championships

THERE was silver success for talented youngster Xelia Mendes-Jones on Sunday when she took part in the South of England Track and Field Championships in Kent.
Competing in the under-15s age category, the London Heathsider set a new personal best and a club record when she hit a distance of 31.07m in the javelin to take second place.
Meanwhile, on the same day, a trio of London Heathsiders turned out for the Regent’s Park 10k road race.
Ursula Wilson was first home for the north London club after completing the race in 45mins, 34secs, taking 126th place overall. Team-mate Robert Bowler finished in 180th place with a time of 48m, 29s, while Paul Belkin crossed the finishing line 21 seconds later to take 196th place.
London Heathside were also well represented in races on Saturday as Jacob Howe finished sixth in the Edinburgh 5k park run with a time of 17m, 37s.
And Richard Macaulay finished second in the Grovelands Park 5k run in Southgate with a time of 18m, 32s
