Respect: Arsene Wenger deserves it

YOUR SHOUT

I WAS disappointed to read that there are Arsenal fans planning to hold a “Wenger Out” march before our final home game of the season against Aston Villa next month.

If (and I hope it’s a big if) these reports are true then it’s a disgrace! Any Gooners who would willingly protest in a bid to get Arsene the sack are just a bunch of short-sighted glory hunters. They’d be doing the club a favour by switching allegiance and supporting Spurs.

At worst, Wenger has inadvertently sacrificed our chances of winning trophies to focus on paying off the debt of our great new stadium and securing Arsenal’s long-term future.

In the coming years we will be privileged to support a club that actually runs in a profit – after all, it’s important that at least one of the Premier League’s top-four sides does.

Arsenal will be able to buy top players without breaking the bank, and under Wenger will still have a crop of talented young players coming through the ranks.

I urge Arsenal fans to join forces and get their flags and scarves out for one last rally in support of a manager who deserves our backing.

After all, in Wenger we trust... don’t we?
