HOTSHOT Lee Scott grabbed a scintillating hat-trick on Saturday as Kentish Town booked their place in the first round of the FA Vase with a 3-1 victory away at Bedford.
Scott opened the scoring in the 41st minute when he latched on to a long clearance from Fabion Simms, outpaced a defender, and slide the ball past the keeper.
Hosts Bedford equalised within minutes when Steve Gibbons capitalised on some poor defending to level the scores at the break.
The Townies picked up the pace in the second half and edged back in front on the hour when Scott scored from the spot after Ruaridh Kay was bundled over in the box.
The star striker completed his timely treble late on when he calmly beat the keeper after latching on to a perfect through-ball from Arthur Barker.
It was a good result for the Townies following their 1-0 defeat to Biggleswade United in the first round of the Challenge Trophy.
Manager Rakatahr Hudson said: “We did not really turn up against Bedford, but it makes a change for us to play poorly and win. The story of our season so far has been the complete opposite. Hopefully we can get the balance right in the coming weeks to bring performances and results together.
“It was good to get Scott back scoring goals and the confidence will do him the world of good.”
