Top junior boxer Albes Krasniqi was floored on Saturday when he met middleweight champion Kreshnik “The Eagle” Qato

THE hard-hitting 16-year-old, who trains at Islington Boxing Club in Archway, was already buzzing after beating Berim Ahmeti on the Bodyshots ABC show held in Bexleyheath.

Within minutes of stepping out of the ring Krasniqi came face-to-face with fellow Albanian Kreshnik, who praised the youngster for winning an entertaining bout.

Competing in the 69kg division, Krasniqi used his jabs and long, straight, punches to dominate against Ahmeti.

After three tough rounds the Islington fighters’ hand was raised in victory as he gained a unanimous decision from the judges.

It proved a successful week for the amateur boxing club with Aaron Morgan and Jordan Grannum picking up wins at the Legends ABC show in Hayes on Thursday. Competing in the 76kg division Morgan recorded his third win in his last four outings when he got the better of Finchley’s Asif Gul. Morgan caught his opponent out with a series of well-timed jabs and sneaky right hands to earn a unanimous points win.

Club-mate Grannum looked just as sharp in his contest against Harjinder Gil in the 69kg category.

The unbeaten Grannum produced an exquisite performance to beat his more experienced rival over three rounds, collecting the Boxer of the Night Award in the process.
