Cross-country teams take on opposition – and the weather

TEAM Camden battled against brisk weather on Saturday in the London Youth Games Cross-Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields. 

Best individual performance came from James Slade, who was fifth in the boys’ under-13s race after completing the course in just over six minutes. In the same age group Ben Hatch was 24th and Ivan D’Avione was 36th. 

In the girls’ under-17s race Theo Prosser took 24th spot, while Francesca Simpson and Amy-Jane Cotter finished 28th and 29th. 

The best individual girl runner was Sophia Parvizi-Wayne, who was seventh in the under-15s race. Hannah Viner was 22nd, Lily Baldwin was 34th and Amelia Brown took 38th place. 

The first Camden girl to hit home in the under-13s race was Georgia Fear, who came 40th to lead the team to 10th place.

Alistair Gaunt ran a strong 20th in the under-15s boys’ race, while Josh Kenway was 37th in the under-17s boys’ race. 

Overall the Camden athletes finished 10th out of the 33 London boroughs.
