PIN-POINT archer Ben Humphrys has been rewarded for his consistent form by being invited to represent Great Britain in the Junior Europa Cup.

In his first international competition, the William Ellis pupil will travel to Italy in May to take on some of the best archers from across Europe.

Ben, who lives in Highgate, will be the only male entry representing team GB in the compound bow category.

The news caps a fantastic run of form for the 15-year-old, whose consistent high scores have seen him gain prestigious accolades – including both the junior and senior master bowman awards.

Talking about his wait to see if he had made the team, Ben said: “My heart was thumping when the manager scrolled down the list of names going to Italy. My name was right at the bottom so it was agony waiting to see if I had made the team. This will be the hardest competition I’ve ever been in.

“I’m just happy to be in the squad and to have the chance to experience my first international competition.

“Winning a medal would be a bonus,” he added.

Ben is always looking for sponsors to help cover the high costs of archery.
