GOAL-GETTER Theo Noble bagged a brace to lead Primrose Hill to glory on Friday as the curtain came down on another thrilling season in the Camden and Islington Youth League.

The Primrose players went into the final day of action at Market Road knowing that only a victory against title rivals Westway would guarantee they won the Under-10s ‘A’ League championship.

Chances were few and far between in a nervous first half as parents were left biting their nails on the touchline.

Primrose picked up the pace in the second half and it wasn’t long before a series of neat passes ended with Jonah Perez just shooting wide.

The opening goal arrived just minutes later when Noble struck from close range.

His initial shot was blocked, but the ball fell kindly for the talented player and he quickly readjusted his feet and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

Westway battled their way back into the game and were only denied an equaliser thanks to heroic goalkeeping from Elijah Abela.

With just minutes remaining on the clock, player-of-the-match Noble found himself in the right place at the right time to grab his second goal of the game and wrap up a 2-0 victory for Primrose Hill.

Manager Chris Markoullis was delighted with the mental strength shown by his players

“They lost both their League Cup and London Cup semi-finals on penalties, but they showed tremendous spirit to remain focused and win the league,“ he said.

“They’ve had to work hard all season, but they’ve kept on going and were rewarded for their efforts.”
