THE ball which won England the Ashes has been given a new home at the MCC Museum at Lord’s.

Graeme Swann and Alastair Cook, who combined to take the final wicket against Australia in last year’s series, donated the ball used at the Oval Test to the museum in St John’s Wood.

It will sit alongside other famous cricket memorabilia – not least the Ashes Urn itself.

Swann said: “Lord’s is a great ground and I think it’s important to preserve as much of cricket’s history as possible.”
