THEO Walcott has revealed he is in need of a “confidence booster” before he re-enters the big stage.

The winger, who was stunned after failing to make England manager Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad, has scored in pre-season.

His Arsenal team-mates say he is “looking sharp” in training too.

But the 21-year-old has said he wants to “build his confidence levels” in Arsenal’s big Emirates Cup showdown this weekend.

Walcott told the club’s website: “They are still tough games – but for me they're going to be good as a confidence booster.

“It’s all about getting back to fitness and getting back into the movements.”

It’s that time of year when the Emirates throws open its doors to four of the top teams in Europe, each competing for an early piece of silverware, the Emirates Cup.

Italian giants AC Milan and Scottish pacesetters Celtic are set to line-up against cup-holders Arsenal as they bid to make it a hat-trick of wins in the annual two-day tournament.

French champions Lyon make up the quartet of teams to play at the Emirates in what looks set to be ideal pre-season preparation for the home side.

The Gunners face AC Milan on Saturday and  Celtic on Sunday. Both matches are at 4.20pm.

The tournament is designed to entertain, with extra points awarded for every goal.

Walcott says this rule adds to the excitement because it encourages players to shoot at any opportunity.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back out there at the Emirates Stadium and playing,” he added.

Free-scoring Arsenal have plundered 11 goals without conceding in pre-season.

A 4-0 win over Barnet has been followed by a 3-0 victory over SK Sturm Graz and 4-0 win over SC Neusiedl 1919.

World Cup heroes Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie are still rested but the Emirates Cup should offer Arsenal fans a chance to run the rule over new signing Marouane Chamakh.

Nicklas Bendtner is injured, however, and could miss the start of the season.
