MARTIN “Too Much” Power’s dream of keeping the Bantamweight Lonsdale Belt ended on Friday night in Tyne and Wear.

But despite his disappointment, the 30-year-old has vowed to carry on in the sport, declaring: “There’s no chance of me retiring.”

Power had already won the Bantamweight title twice but his bid for a belt-clinching third victory was stopped by reigning holder Stuart Hall in the Rainton Meadows Arena.

The bruising encounter was ended at the end of the 10th round when the referee stepped in after Hall landed three hefty shots.

Afterwards, Power said he was annoyed by the stoppage, having prepared for a fight that would go into the later stages. But he added: “I’m a million per cent set on dropping down to super-flyweight, which was my original plan before they offered me a shot at the Lonsdale belt.”
