Nick Gold goes so close in 10k run
HIGHGATE Harrier Nick Gold was within seconds of living up to his name on Sunday in the popular Regent’s Park 10k road race.
Nick, who lives in Hampstead, battled against the frosty conditions to record an impressive time of 35:25 minutes. It was an effort that secured him silver position as he finished just six seconds behind Mornington Chaser Alex Kitromilides.
Highgate’s Becky Penty was the first female runner to hit home as she took fourth place overall with a time of 36:36.
In the youth ranks, Highgate’s Roland Turnell-Ritson finished third in the men’s 5k road race at Somerley in Hampshire on Sunday.
The under-17s runner clocked a time of 18:57 mins, while his younger brother Leo finished in 22:49 to take ninth place.
