‘Yes, we can win the league’
Boss Wenger backs Arsenal for title as comeback puts them top of the table
Premier League
Arsenal 4, Bolton 2
ARSENE Wenger has warned Gunners fans that the next four league games will decide whether they can be champions.
The Arsenal boss was speaking after watching his side go top of the Premier League after fighting back from two goals down against Bolton at the Emirates last night (Wednesday).
But they now face Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool in a demanding sequence of fixtures over the next few weeks.
Wenger said: “These four games are so important.
“The mathematical impact of winning those games is so much bigger because of what it does to the teams you are up against.
“But we have a real chance. No matter what people say, in the heads of our players, we can do it and we will get stronger. We have a good number of points and we are top of the league.”
Bolton took a two-goal lead with a scrappy goal from Gary Cahill on seven minutes and Matthew Taylor netted from the spot minutes later.
Tomas Rosicky pulled a goal back but the critical moment of the match came when Arsenal refused to stop play when midfielder Mark Davies went down clutching his ankle under a tackle from William Gallas.
Bolton manager called the challenge “an assault” but the referee didn’t stop play and Arsenal played on in a move that ended with a Cesc Fabregas equaliser.
Wenger said: “The players didn’t know what was happening.”
From then on it was one sided with Thomas Vermaelen and Andrey Arshavin adding the third and fourth goals.
