CHILDREN from Gospel Oak Primary School hopped, skipped and leaped their way to glory on Monday when they were crowned champions at the annual Sportshall Athletics Championships.

The competition, which was held at the Somers Town Sports Centre in Chalton Street, saw 12 primary schools go head-to-head. Each school entered an ‘A’ team for the competitive events and a ‘B’ team for the participation rounds.

After an action packed afternoon just a couple of points separated the top four teams, with Gospel Oak taking pride of place on the podium. Primrose Hill finished as runners-up, just ahead of New End Primary School in Hampstead who came third. Carlton School in Queen’s Crescent also did well to finish fourth.

The tournament was organised by the Camden Schools Sports Association and supported by the Schools Sports Co-ordinators and NVQ students training at the Talacre Community Sports Centre in Kentish Town.
