STRIKER Alexi Nicolaou returned to haunt his former club Reddot on Sunday when he helped Sir Robert Peel net their first league win of the season.

Peel started brightly and took the lead courtesy of John “Bobotov” Purcell’s stunning 30-yard free-kick.

Reddot responded with Jason Medford showing great composure in front of goal to pull the scores level before the break.

In-form Peel weren’t to be denied, however, and secured their first win in seven attempts when Nicolaou raced onto TJ O’Leary’s pass, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net.

The victory is the perfect tonic for Division One side Peel, who take on Second Division side Mostyn FC in the grand final of our prestigious Camden Sunday League Challenge Cup on Sunday February 21, at Cockfosters Stadium.

Afterwards manager Justin Morahan said: “We have now won three games on the spin against three top flight teams. We’ve beaten Phoenix and Cobden Athletic in the Challenge Cup, and now Reddot in the league.

“Hopefully we can continue our winning streak in the league this weekend, and keep the morale high for the cup final against Mostyn FC in two weeks’ time.”
