THE sporting talents of some of the borough’s best basketball players were showcased at three thrilling grand finals this week.

Primary and secondary school pupils from across Camden have been shooting hoops and spinning moves on the basketball court in a series of leagues this term.

Organised by the Camden Schools Sports Association and the Camden School Sports Federation, the leagues have given boys and girls from across the borough the chance to try a new sport and hone their skills.

In the past week, the top  girls teams from those primary and secondary leagues went head-to-head in a bid to be crowned grand final champions.

And last Wednesday, the girls of Fitzjohn’s Primary School in Hampstead beat Carlton School 14-6 to take the CSSA three-on-three title at Talacre Sports Centre in Kentish Town.

On Tuesday, the winners of the CSSF’s under-14 and 16 girls basketball leagues were decided at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park when La Sainte Union School took on Camden School for Girls.

LSU went on to take the title in both finals, winning 30-8 in an end-to-end under-14s game and 16-4 in a tight under-16s match.

The LSU girls will now represent Camden in a series of special Central London basketball finals in January.
