Harriers and Heathside run into top slot

ATHLETES from Highgate Harriers and London Heathside ran their clubs into the top three at Trent Park on Saturday in the third of five North West London Young Athlete League meetings.
Highgate’s Cecily Turner was among the pick of athletes on the day, the youngster seeing off 11 runners to clinch first place in the Under-11 girls’ 1200m race in a fast time of 7.44. Highgate went on to take first place in the Under-11 boys’ 2200m race and the Under-13 boys’ 2400m race.
Heathside’s Under-17 boys took first place overall and the Under-11 boys and Under-15 and Under-13 girls steered the club to second place overall in their age groups.
Highgate’s men were first in the Fraternity Cup five-mile cross country race at Trent Park, in Cockfosters, with Shaun Dixon leading the way with a second placed finish in a time of 25.40.
Esther Evans was first home in 29.57 in the five-mile Sorority Cup as Highgate were first of seven clubs.
