Harriers run out winners in their county vests

HIGHGATE Harriers Ryan McKinlay and Henry Dodwell swapped their club vests for county colours on Sunday when they represented Middlesex in the Southern Senior Inter-Counties Track and Field meeting in Ashford.
Triumphant McKinlay showed tremendous energy as he won the 3000m steeplechase in 9:40.35 before finishing third in the 5000m in 15:09.3.
His impressive runs followed on from Saturday’s outing in the British Milers Club Regional 1500m race at Parliament Hill Fields where he recorded a personal best of 3:58.12 to finish third.
In Sunday’s meet club-mate Dodwell also tasted victory for Middlesex when he won the ‘B’ team 5000m in 15:10.07.
Meanwhile in the London Inter Club Challenge on Saturday Highgate’s men finished second behind champions Shaftesbury Barnet, finishing third for the season overall.
Under-17s athlete Liam Ormes recorded a personal best long jump of 6.23m, which is also the best distance in the club so far this year. He also completed 100m in 11.7 seconds.
Team-mate Tony Lu was one centimetre off his long jump personal best with 5.13m and ran the 100m in 12.48. Justin Duru smashed his 100m best by winning one of the 100m races in 11.25.
