Extra punch – Winchester Project youngsters win heavyweight backing for new boxing programme

YOUNGSTERS at the Winchester Project in Swiss Cottage added some extra punch to their sports schedules when they signed up to take part in a new boxing programme.
Coaches Cassius Campbell and Clayon Stewart from the All-Stars Boxing Club in west London have been putting the kids through their paces over the past 10 weeks.
The sessions were funded by Sport Unlimited, a youth sports project initiative.
As a special treat, the children who regularly attended the Winchester Project were presented with certificates and boxing manuals by Ali Adams, who is currently 16th in the British heavyweight ranks.
Afterwards Campbell, who has been involved in boxing for more than 28 years, said: “It was fantastic. All the children were committed and enthusiastic. It was also great to see so many girls taking part.
“The programme wasn’t about turning the kids into professional boxers. It was about helping to make them good citizens by giving them confidence, motivation, discipline and good self-awareness.”
