Schools get rough ride on way to zoo

WHO would be a harassed teacher responsible for packing 25 primary school kids on to a single-decker bus after a visit to the zoo – and, at the same time, trying to ignore the frowns of oldies fearful their seats may be taken?

Two groups of children – 50 in all, probably from Islington schools – packed No 274 buses yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) in Primrose Hill, after an expedition to London Zoo. In past years local authorities provided special coaches for school outings.

In them, the children were safe, the teachers less harassed.

Now, they are squeezed into crowded public transport.   This surely has the makings of an accident waiting to happen.
