A JEWELLER was this week counting the cost of a motorcycle ram-raid in which bags of expensive gifts were grabbed.
The raid happened just after 4pm on Wednesday when four men on two motorcycles smashed their way into Hush Jewellers, in Rosebery Avenue, Clerkenwell.
The owner of the shop was inside at the time and, although shaken, was not hurt.
Before the raiders fled the scene one was seen to be in possession of what was believed to be a handgun. No shots were fired.
A neighbour said the men drove their bikes repeatedly at the locked shop door to gain entrance and used an axe to smash a window before scooping jewellery from displays.
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call the Flying Squad on 0208 258 1751.
