HAMPSTEAD and Kilburn MP Glenda Jackson met Barack Obama at the Houses of Parliament yesterday (Wednesday) with the pair revealing their mutual admiration.

Ms Jackson was brought through a crowd of MPs and visitors to speak to the US President following his speech in Westminster Hall.

“John Bercow, the Speaker of the House, worked the room brilliantly because there were so many people who wanted to shake his hand,” said the Oscar winning actress turned MP (pictured). “It was John who dragged me down to introduce me to him.

“Obama was very gracious and said he was aware of my work and it was a pleasure to meet me. I said the same to him.

“I asked him why in his speech he had mentioned Roosevelt and Churchill but he hadn’t mentioned Truman. He said that essentially there wasn’t time to read out all of the names. I told him he had a wonderful voice and we would have listened.”
