The Whittington Hospital’s resident radio DJ has been nominated for a top industry award

EDDIE K – aka Edward Kent – is hoping to scoop the “best specialist music” award at the Hospital Broadcasting Association event in Maidstone on March 26.

Security guard Eddie hosts the popular Reggae Run Down radio show, playing out to staff and patients listening in on the Highgate hospital’s in-house radio station.

He said: “I’ve been highly commended before and last year I was a finalist. To me I’m a winner already. But I’d really be chuffed if I got the prize.”

Whittington Radio was established in 1982 and broadcasts 24 hours a day. Around 35 people are involved in the day-to-day running of the station.
