A COMMUNITY centre that helps disadvantaged Chinese people with legal problems, refugee and asylum issues has won a prestigious award.
The Chinese Information and Advice Centre (CIAC), based in Chinatown, clinched the accolade of “Best Organisation” at this year’s Westminster Volunteer Awards.
At a ceremony held at the Abbey Centre last Wednesday, the awards recognised the important and wide-ranging work done by the borough’s many volunteers.
CIAC chairman, Edmond Yeo, who won the “Volunteer Impact” award, thanked the organisation’s volunteers who he said were “the hearts and souls of the centre that enabled us to deliver favourable outcomes to our thousands of service users over the years”.
