POLITICIANS from Islington and Hackney helped sweep the streets of Finsbury Park on Tuesday as part of a clean-up campaign.
Islington mayor Councillor Phil Kelly, London Assembly member, Jennette Arnold, who is a local resident, and Speaker of Hackney Council, Councillor Susan Fajana-Thomas, were busy with their brushes in Blackstock Road.
The clean-up was co-ordinated by Talal Karim, chief executive of FinFuture, which is dedicated to improving the area. He said: “We all want to see a cleaner, greener and safer Finsbury Park for the long-term.
“I am so pleased both councils have joined together in this initiative, following the successful joint operation last year with Haringey at Stroud Green Road.
“Blackstock Road is a great place to work and live in, with the nearby park, shops, good transport and a vibrant community. Together with the Police Safer Neighbourhoods Teams, we are launching the Blackstock Business Watch scheme involving traders.”
