TWELVE new speakers of English met the leader of the Town Hall on Tuesday to see if they could use their skills in Islington’s new Citizens Advice Bureau.
The adult learners – who come from Turkey, Somalia and Bangladesh – are studying basic level English speak six languages between them.
Catherine West, Labour leader of the council, said: “We’ll be looking to see if we can get them volunteer roles in our CAB and children’s centres. “This can help their own confidence and employment prospects while helping local communities too.”
